10 Thoughtful Gifts for 4-6 Year Old Girls That She’ll Actually Love

Finding the perfect gift for a 4-6 year old girl can be tricky, you want something she’ll love, play with and actually use. Between birthdays, Christmas and other celebrations (yes, we even celebrate half-birthdays in my family!) I’ve rounded up 10 gifts that are thoughtful, creative and just the right balance of fun and practical. These are tried and true ideas that girls this age really enjoy.

  1. Magnetic Blocks

My daughter loves these. They are very easy to use but have endless possibilities for play and fun.

2. Plus Plus Creative Building Blocks

These are very clever little blocks that can create 2D or 3D shapes. I bought these for one of my nephews and got rave reviews and so they have become a little bit of a go to for this age range. They come in a variety of different packs, as a unicorn fan this is the set my daughter loves.

3. Loom bands

A bit of a classic, but such good fun. The little bands do have a habit of going everywhere so a set that comes with some sort of container is always a good idea. My kids love making these for their friends and they are also excellent for developing fine motor skills.

4. Rollerskates

A more active option! I was begged for a pair of unicorn roller skates and thankfully were able to find this pair. They are great fun and, personally, I love any excuse to get presents that encourage fresh air and physical activity.

5. Star Projector Night Light

This projector was a lovely present for my daughter from her grandparents and it has been a lovely, calming addition to her bedtime routine. It comes with various changes of film so that it is possible to change what is being projected. The whole thing can be put on a timer so that it doesn’t go all night. It has a battery so doesn’t need to be plugged in the whole time and so she loves to take it into different rooms around the house when she is playing.

6. Blow Pens

My daughter got these from a friend as a present and they were an instant hit. We have subsequently bought them for a few of her friends. They are easy to use, allow room for creativity but also have lovely templates that produce super pictures.

7. Camera with printing

This wee camera is amazing! It takes photos and then prints them straight away. My kids never seem to bore of it. There are lots of filters too that can be applied to the photos which make for extra fun. Although it does come with a small supply of the rolls of the printable paper, you can easily buy more.

8. Grabalo

A great wee game that I have given countless times as a gift. It is such a simple concept so even young children can join in but it can also get very competitive

9. Microphone

This is not a quiet option. You might need to apologise to the parent of any child you buy this for but this is a favourite of my kids. Not only does it amplify voices but it also creates silly voices and you can plug music in for a bit of karaoke opportunities too.

10. Water Beads Magic Kit

My kids have loved playing with water beads for a long time but these kits take these funny little beads to the next level. By some wizardry, these little beads can be turned into mini crafts such as a keyring or an embellishment for a school bag. Each kit comes with outlines which can be followed or there is no end to the creative possibilities.
